THANKFUL THURSDAY

So within, so without. 

Listen to what your body is telling you. If you are tired and lacking energy..fuel up with high energy nutrition and simply give your body some rest. Drink lots of water to help replenish and hydrate your cells. Give your mind some peace with gentle music and a nice hot shower to relieve stress, incorporate some deep breathing techniques to rejuvenate and oxygenate your body. Find something inspiring and create something that you are passionate about to help gain confidence to recharge your creativity. Always key, make sure to move your body..whether through dance, or gentle flow yoga, or going for a long walk just to get the blood moving around will help you throughout your daily life. Be thankful for what you have been blessed with... Take care of your body and it will take care of you... What is your body telling you today?

This is my place of worship…at the end of my bed I will pull out my meditation mat and take a moment to sit in silence. Many people feel guilt and shame for not going to a specific place like church or temple ..Most will try to make up for it by going on holidays and begging for forgiveness. Those "places" are a great way to be apart of a community that all practice the same belief and I love love love the way I feel after attending the Spiritual Center in Morristown… but the Spirits are always with us…always protecting us…without any expectations. Release the guilt and remember that you do not need to be in an actual establishment to pray. God/the Universe/the Divine Essence is within you and is always listening….

MEDITATION

med·i·ta·tion noun \ˌme-də-ˈtā-shən\

: the act or process of spending time in quiet thought : the act or process of meditating

: an expression of a person's thoughts on something

 

Meditation is essential in creating a still, calm, and quiet mind. Your mind is like a computer and even computers need “rebooting”. It takes practice but start slow. Give yourself 5 minutes a day. Then 10. Then 15. Begin with guided meditations so you have something to focus on and then further your practice by sitting in pure silence. 

 

Thoughts will come and go...it’s ok...we are only human...as your “to-do” list pops up during your meditation watch it slowly drift away...accept it and do not fight it..just slowly allow it to go away and come back to your center. My focus is always my heart. With love and compassione apart of your meditation you can always find your center. I also always begin my meditation with prayers for people..I begin with a few family members that may be sad or going through a rough time, then a few “aquaintances”, and then some people I may not know..Someone I saw at the library or a person walking the dog that looked like they need some healing energy. You will be suprised how amazing you feel when you follow the law of the Universe...”Giving and Receiving”.. 

 

I always feel like I have stepped off of a cloud after my meditation. Like I have just entered another world. Sometimes it helps to create that “quiet place” and visualize yourself there. What does the air feel like? Are you inland or by the water? Do you have a little home there waiting for you? I look at this place like my sanctuary. I begin here through visualization and then slowly fade into “nothingness”....

 

But like I mentioned, it takes time and practice...but most of all patience. You will get there. Baby steps......
